Simply in Love

Simply in love with the essence of you I'm consumed with the possiblities of forever and the certainties of today Heated passions, common ground are shared without strife, moving us into another level, another vibe, another thing Nameless it remains as we find peace in this nameless connection Simply in love with the way it is, the way its done and the way .....the way....the way Touches unlock hidden secrets, confessions are made about pasts loves and hurts and leading us to lay down, lay down those things that hinder us from feeling this Simply in love a with friendship that defies reason, space and time just simply in love and its ok..... simply in love with you posted on myspace august 2007

Getting my Mind Right

For some reason, as I've been working on CWUW for the past year, I've trying to share this journey with others. Today, something clicked in my brain (again) about taking CWUW 100% by the you know what and running with it, as its lone leader. Yes, I'll still need a working board of women and men who are committed to the mission but I can step out and truly lead, alone . With W2W, even though I was the program director, I truly tried to share my experiences with my employees and volunteers. I try to give them opportunities to learn skills to improve their lives. I didn't have to be the "PROGRAM DIRECTOR". I was good with being "Rhonda from Woman to Woman". With CWUW, its different. I need to be the FACE of CWUW. Its out of character for me but its needed. I'm no performer. The spotlight doesn't call me. I just want to help folks but I'm seeing the plan. Didn't I just write this blog some weeks ago? Step ya game up Rhon! Get ya...

Dearest Love

It seems you came to me like an angel from God's bosom saving me from my own mind of entrapment and loss my dearest love When I see your face I smile your voice finds a warm place in my soul I rise again to be strong and vibrant my dearest love What words can provide thankful feelings you saw love in me when my reflection was empty my dearest love I awakened to fly again to move towards higher heights afraid that I must move on move forward without the one who nurtured my spirit, loved me dearly my dearest love my love for you will never cease but has changed I will leap without holding your hand or needing your touch but my heart will be towards you always for you are my dearest love July 7, 2008 inspired by the ending of a relationship that blossomed into a strong friendship

Slipping Away

Slipping away there's that moment when I knew I was no longer your greatest love the moment you looked through me the moment you set me aside as a pet walk me feed me play with me you're done your touch became routine I sit in confusion as I fight for survival my enemy unknown my mind plays wondrous tricks trying to keep something I already have forehead kisses, rub my back, tell the silly joke and I laugh paranoia could be at fault you are still here right? July 6, 2008 still working on this one.... no inspiration but the tv in the background

Sananda Maitreya: Share Your Pain

This is one of my favorite songs of all time. Its so simple but it touches my soul. I understand every word. I feel the simplicity of the song and I know the deepness of every word. I appreciate how Sananda pours out this song from his spirit. This song will bring me to TEARS . As I'm pushing through to get Sydney to the next level of life, as I'm pushing through to be what God would have me to be, this song just captures it all. My song of the moment. formerly known as Terrence Trent D'Arby Share Your Pain I've seen your thunderclouds and I've seen your rain But I love you more when you share your pain with me I've seen the winds of change swallow your seeds of grain But I love you more when you share your pain with me Dream your dream Dream lover Light the dawn 'cause when you dream another light goes on Dream your dream Dream lover Light the dawn 'cause when you dream another light goes on

Song

I am a perfect song harmony guided by the heart felt desires of the song's creator sweet words I play in your heart without knowing Out of sight you walk away hoping every note will become less and less noticeable to your delicate ear U hum, not realizing passion drips from your lips as to kiss me gently here there Unaware we sing the same tune vibrations on similar frequencies reflections of the same measure continuing to write this verse without your touch imagery decides every note Lyrically, I am divine the chorus only quickens your fervent need to rewrite this lullaby so you no more can be tormented by the words I speak to your soul I am your perfect song July 6, 2008 inspired by no one

Mumbo Jumbo

I'm tired but I'm up....grrrrrrrr. Couple things I wanted to write about so I'm putting it all here. John Mayer Buddy Guy, John Mayer, Phil Lesh, ?estlove doing the blues classic (I'm Your) Hoochie Coochie Man I went to see John Mayer with my buddy Rashida. She is a John Mayer FANATIC! I didn't know whether to watch her or the show. She was too cute. I'm not concert critic so you're not going to get playlists and all of that but I can say, I'm now a fan of John's. I was impressed. Opening for John were Brett Dennen and Colbie Caillat. I couldn't stand that Colbie Caillat chick. She annoyed me from beginning to end. She sang "Beast of Burden" like she was singing to the Sunnyside retirement home or something. I was annoyed. I'm NOT a fan. No stage presence at all. I went to go use the restroom and find some food. I "people watched" for the second half of her set. The family next to us was too cute. The girls, proba...

honesty

Yesterday, I had the most interesting, funny, HONEST conversation with a friend. This dude so very wise for his age. I'll just say he's under 25 but I think is the most wise male I know. I've always told him that in 10 years he is going to be a truly amazing man. Anyway. It was a cool conversation that lead us to talking about the power of being honest in all situations. In the past, I've blogged heavily about appreciating honesty in its purest form. I don't mind hearing the hard stuff and I HATE for anyone to think I'm stupid. We spoke of how people say they want to hear it but can't really handle it. The interesting part of the conversation was us talking about a mutual friend and his treatment of women. My young friend felt the women where not being honest with themselves so had to take some responsibility in the bull they found themselves in. At first, I was like hmmmmmmmmm...NO. I was a like, "No but he was lame." He said, "Ye...

The Itch

April 6, 2008 - Sunday The Itch Starting off as annoyance troublesome little spot unreachable untouchable feeling my skin longing for touch ohhhhhhhhh I cry out for assistance no ones there hearing the echo of my voice searching My dilemma I feel it throbbin ’ annoyance moves into desire needing to end this strange little feeling normally able to handle this alone a rub lotions and oils to help soothe incapable of curing this ill my mind races to think of a way to end this feeling Seeking out someone to scratch my itch

My anger with the medical community

Today, I had to make an appointment for the kid with my doc and it was one of the most frustrating experiences. The nurse didn't listen to a word I said, I had to repeat myself over and over and I swear she just didn't get it. When I was with W2W, I use to go with my clients to doctors appointments as a advocate, their voice. We've (society) convinced folks that they should be intimidated by the medical community and just take whatever they say as the TRUTH. Recently, when my back went out, the doc I saw at the urgent care center was awful. He was no more than a drug pusher and when I called him on it, he wasn't too happy with me. (giggle) I know my body and I listen to what is being said from the medical provider. I don't just say, "Ok". They can be some assholes. They will make assumptions about your lifestyle, education, economic status, etc and then will make their diagnosis based on their bias instead of what is wrong. Its so sad. I use to go...

Center of Wellness for Urban Women....CWUW

CWUW is my love, my other kid that takes up most of my time outside of mommyhood. This weekend as I worked on some program stuff, I was really rejuvenated. We've had some changes in the board that sort of through me off for a second but change is good. We're working on a research project that I'm excited about. I just hate going throught the IRB process. Its so slow or its just IUPUI. I'm starting to see how God is working this out. As I go through my own journey in dealing with my health (bulimia), CWUW progresses. As I move to live a more centered life, CWUW grows. I'll never want to go through what I did with Woman to Woman. I was so connected to the program that I couldn't separate myself from the program. I WAS W2W and when stuff started to crumble, I couldn't separate me from what was occurring (blessings to a fabulous co-worker who helped me through). I'm so thankful for W2W though. I LOVED what we were able to accomplish in HIV and with ...

Principles of Spiritual Activism

Principles of Spiritual Activism The following principles emerged from several years' work with social change leaders in Satyana's Leading with Spirit program. We offer these not as definitive truths, but rather as key learnings and guidelines that, taken together, comprise a useful framework for "spiritual activism." 1. Transformation of motivation from anger/fear/despair to compassion/love/purpose. This is a vital challenge for today's social change movement. This is not to deny the noble emotion of appropriate anger or outrage in the face of social injustice. Rather, this entails a crucial shift from fighting against evil to working for love, and the long-term results are very different, even if the outer activities appear virtually identical. Action follows Being, as the Sufi saying goes. Thus "a positive future cannot emerge from the mind of anger and despair" (Dalai Lama). 2. Non-attachment to outcome. This is difficult to put into practice, ye...

Eyes Wide Shut

May 19, 2008 - Monday Lost in the rhythm of my heart Forest for the trees, i can't not see Blind daily by thoughts and misunderstandings Twists and turns and mistakes and misgivings The drumbeat of my heart continues to deafen the melodic sounds my ears should be hearing disillusioned in my passions I can recognize the rabbit hole Alice in her wonderment confused by pandora's box Fairy tales without the happy ending Close my eyes to see fantasies and rainbows and pleasure and love refusing to open refusing reality refusing me

Art by Kortez

I've always surrounded myself with artsy people. I like their vibes but damn, ya'll some moody, temperamental creatures. I say that with love...lol. My very, very dear friend is an artist and DJ in New Jersey and he breaks the mold. He is so cool and focused. Kortez isn't full of angst and he's on his grind with his art and music and the struggle to make it happen. He is very peaceful. I LOVE talking with him. On a visit, I watched him paint and it was AMAZING. He painted three items for me. The collage (above) was painted in honor of my Mom. He used her birth certificate, pics and other items to make this collage. Its a great way to honor her. The other painting was inspired by some art he had already painted. Kortez' art is cool because he uses things like doors, frames, wood paneling, etc to create his beautiful work. When this finally came in the mail, I lost it. He actually painted while ago when I was there but it took a minute for him to get it to me. I...

Blogs, poems and such....

Just repostin' some stuff from my Myspace blog over the past couple of years. I'm not THAT moved by stuff lately...(gigglin')..ok...yeah maybe. Thanks for the many messages ya'll. So many folks send me private notes and emails to my blogs. I'm blessed for the encouragement, the support and the sharing of your stories as well. Its a blessing to be able to share ME with the world without fear of criticism. Not bothered with another person's opinion of me, my life and journey. Its all about God and me. Through my past work in the community, I know that giving a little of yourself can be such a blessing. I wish I could share some of the touching messages I get. Awesome. My writings can be about a number of people and situations or very much my own personal experiences. Ya neva know. I'm happy to encourage others to Journal. You don't have to be as public as I am but journaling can be a powerful tool. I'm thankful to friends who have allowed me...

I am.....

I am..... Charged with providing love to the disenfranchised hugs to the lonely Walking through the doors of the crack house to help a mother change her life I am evil Kisses to the person living with HIV who has forgotten the touch of another Let me sit with you so your pimp doesn't beat you again again again I am offensive Let me lose mother, job, home car, phone, and family and still praise the Most High for loving me Let family turn away and brother abuse is sister I am faithless My little sisters, black, white and Asian Come under my wings as I teach you my wisdom, my love for God's people. Sit with me daily and I will share and love you as I do my own I embrace all who you will become I am racist
