Man, I'm tired. The two nights I was in Chicago, we didn't walk in until 4am and probably didn't get to sleep until 5am. My thighs hurt. My feet continue to remind me that they need support. And I had hella fun!! Going to see George Clinton was last minute and I'm sooooooo glad I was there. I walked in cute and left sweaty and FUNKY!! We were literally standing right in front of the stage. Its was madness. My little crew danced and sweated all night. Cool ass night. Sunday night was "Prince Night at Berlin". Berlin is a cool little spot in Chicago that's been hosting these Prince nights for over 12 years. I think every Prince fan I know has been to a Prince night at this club. It was a cool experience that is coming to an end. Nonetheless, to watch never seen videos and hear music you didn't even know existed was PRICELESS. Yeah, another Prince discussion. This man has saved my soul through the years. A follow Prince fan always refers to Prince as the ultimate "pimp". He speaks of how smooooooth Prince is lyrically. I came across the video for "If I Was Your Girlfriend," taken from the Sign of the times film. I started gigglin'. Prince IS a pimp. So clever. Witty. Smooth. In the past couple of years, I've learned to appreciate the talents of Wendy and Lisa, formerly of Prince and the Revolution. Happy 50th Birthday! I love him. I hate him. He loves me. He hates me. This is how this relationship works with Prince but nonetheless he is a powerful talent. Prince is a great influence in my life. He helped me to be ok with being quirky and different. I could see me in him and his music. This love affair has had its ups and downs but I still love him. Like most, I have my favorite eras. Give me the "Dirty Mind, Controversy, 1999" era and the "Sign Of the Times, Lovesexy" era any day. Now, this doesn't mean that I still can't appreciate and love the purity of Prince's falsetto on "For You" album or have my number of favorites from the "Crystal Ball" cds. There's so much music. You really can be overwhelmed amount of music that's out there. There are tracks I'm still hearing for the first time. Prince allows his influences to come through.
